John R. VanAmburgh

January 2, 1929 ~ November 17, 2014 (age 85) 85 Years Old

SNYDERS LAKE - John R. VanAmburgh, 85, of Lakeshore Drive  entered into eternal life in the comfort of his home on Monday, November 17, 2014. 
 
Born in Albany, he was son of the late Harold J. VanAmburgh and Ruth  Kerin VanAmburgh and husband for 58 years of the late Nancy Guskie VanAmburgh. He resided on Synders Lake since 1952 and was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy in Albany.
 
John was an accountant for Roemer-Zoeller Auto Supply in Albany retiring in 1991.  He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War.
                                                                
John was a member of North Albany American Legion Post 1610.  He was an avid and talented golfer and enjoyed bowling and rooting for the Boston RedSox. He was an animal lover and enjoyed feeding and watching the birds in his yard.
 
Survivors include his children, Mark (Toni) VanAmburgh, Snyders Lake, Melissa A. (Kevin) Brenz, Wynantskill,  and Elise (Art) LeMay, East Greenbush; his grandchildren, Joshua Brenz, Abigail and Ryan LeMay; his sisters Fay Milot (Kevin) Allen, Niskayuna, Linda (William) Banker, Averill Park, Christine (Daniel) Giovannangelo, Rotterdam; his sister-in-laws, Joyce and Phyllis VanAmburgh and Theresa Gilhooley and brother-in-laws, John and Joe Guskie  many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his cats, Jack the Cat and Punkin. He was predeceased by his beloved grandson, Jared Brenz; and his brothers Edward, Harold, and Paul.
 
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Thursday from 4 - 7 PM. 
 
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, at 10 AM at St. Henry's Church 39 Old Route 66 Averill Park with Rev. Thomas F. Holmes , Pastor, officiating.
 
Interment will be in  St. Joseph's Cemetery Troy.
 
John's family wishes to thank Shari, Kay, and Miliza for their faithful and loving care.
