John W. Lutz, 88

East Greenbush - John W. Lutz, 88, of Rockrose Drive died Thursday, February 04, 2010, at his residence after a brief illness.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late John F. Lutz and Harriet VanKuren Lutz and husband of Patricia Helen Kammerdiener Lutz. He was born and raised in Troy and resided in East Greenbush for the past 3 years and attended Troy High School.

Mr. Lutz was employed for 28 years with GTE then NY telephone retiring in 1979 as a Field Supervisor and later worked for NYS Office of General Services for 10 years.

He was a former member of the Troy Lodge of Elks, Independent Telephone Pioneers and a communicant of Holy Spirit Church in East Greenbush. He was an Army veteran of World War II with a rank of Staff Sargeant in the 27th Division of the 105th Infantry.

Survivors in addition to his wife include a son - John M. (Michelle) Lutz of Loudonville; two granddaughters, Jessica and Olivia Lutz; a sister, Marjorie A. Linen of Averill Park; a brother, Donald T. Lutz of Troy. He was predeceased by his brother and sisters, Doris Tyrrell, Harriet Riely, Barbara McMeel and William and Charles Lutz.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 9:15 AM at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy and at 10:00 AM at Holy Spirit Church Columbia Turnpike East Greenbush where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4- 7 PM.

Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery Troy.
