John R. "Jack" Cunningham, 81

Los Altos, CA John R. "Jack" Cunningham, 81, died November 15, 2005.

Born in Troy, he was loving husband of Edna (Valmassy) Cunningham for 53 years; devoted father of Kathleen Gruenstein, her husband Paul and Mary Chadwick, her husband, George; doting grandfather of Jaclyn and Lauren Gruenstein and Austin, Taylor, and Elizabeth Chadwick; brother of Lucille (late Donald) McGrady and Rosemary (late Russell) Jones; brother-in-law of Gloria (late Louis) Valmassy of San Francisco; uncle of Colleen Thayer, Pamela Ackner, Russell and Jerilyn Jones, Stewart and Arlene Jones, Keith and Kathy Jones and the late Donald McGrady Jr. all of the East Coast and Dr. Ronald and Helen Valmassy and their son, Paul.

Jack founded and worked Westates Sales for 20 years after a 20-year career of serving a wide range of industrial distributors and OEM throughout the Western States with Behr-Manning and the Norton Company as regional sales manager. He served in the US Army during World War II, stationed in Hawaii and after the war was stationed in Japan until his discharge.

His formal education includes a BA in economics from Hobart College and an MBA from Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. In the past 15 years, Jack, semi-retired, kept busy with his small Western Tape and Converting Company with an office in Union City. He enjoyed, for a few years, traveling especially to Lake Tahoe and Palm Springs.

A Mass was held at St. Raymond Church in Menlo Park, CA. The family prefers donations to Lucille Packard Children's Hospital, 770 Welsh Rd., Suite 350, Palo Alto, CA. 94304 or St. Raymond Church 1211 Arbor Road Menlo Park, CA.
