Joan C. Alexander, 82

Poestenkill - Joan C. Alexander, 82, of Circle Drive died Monday, March 3, 2014, at Eddy Village Green Cohoes after a long illness.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Joseph Coffey and Catherine Rafferty Coffey and wife of the late Herbert Benjamin Alexander. She had resided in Poestenkill from the time she was 25 and was a graduate of Catholic Cental High School and St. Peter's Hospital School of Nursing.

Mrs. Alexander was a registered nurse for many years and school nurse at W. Kenneth Doyle Middle School in Troy for over 20 years. She was a member of the NYS Nurses Association, the Teachers Union, PTA, Cub Scouts and 4H.

Survivors include her children, Matthew J. Noble, Bendigo Australia, Laura C. (Thomas Roome) Noble, Sammamish, WA and Michael (Mary) Noble, E. Poestenkill; 10 grandchildren; her sister, Jean Coffey Foss, Troy; a sister-in-law, Diane Coffey, Poestenkill and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Edward Coffey and her former husband, Floyd R. Noble.

Relatives and friends may call at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 4392 Route 150 West Sand Lake on Thursday from 4-7 PM.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 9:30AM at the funeral home and at 10AM at St. Henry's Church Averill Park where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Thomas F. Holmes, Pastor. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Joan C. Alexander to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society or Unity House of Troy.
