Jerrie-Ann McEvily Goewey

Wynantskill - Jerrie-Ann McEvily Goewey, was born in Mineola, NY to Isabelle and Jerome McEvily on 1-01-40. On that day a soul entered the world that would affect many. She was named after her father. She became the strong person that we know with a gift of listening , and was able to call others beyond where they were, to be more of themselves. She also had an incredible sense of justice.

Jerrie-Ann was the wife and soul-mate of Kenneth W Goewey. Their journey of marriage and faith spanned 48 years. Jerrie-Ann and Ken, with God's help, brought to life, Kenneth Charles Goewey, Bryan Jerome Goewey (married to Jane Bailey), Timothy Goewey and Katherine Veronica. Goewey (Married to Michael Burke, Jr). Her loving Grandchildren are Lauren Goewey, Hannah Rifenberick, Michael Goewey and Rose Goewey.

Jerri-Ann graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and then SUNY Farmingdale. She was the personal secretary of Nelson Doubleday at Doubleday Publishing in Manhattan. While there, she began dating Ken Goewey. He managed to take her away from the milieu of Manhattan, after noon times in Central Park, and visits Upstate.

She was founding Board Member of Unity House of Troy, followed by leading couple of Marriage Encounter in the Capital District, which led to being Co Director of the Family Life Office of the Roman Catholic district with Ken. While there they became NYS representatives and founding members of the NACFLM (National Association of Catholic Family Life Ministries) and served on the National Conference committee. They also attended a 2 year program with Rabbi Ed Friedman, studying family systems (the Bowen Theory). With the support of Raskob Foundation, founded a National Bereavement Ministry. In addition Jerrie-Ann wrote articles, 2 books and produced and hosted a weekly TV program for the Diocese. Upon leaving her job at the Diocese after 19 years, Jerrie-Ann became the Human Resource Director for Ken Goewey/Team Goewey Dodge.

Her long illness led to a very valuable experience with Randy Oppitz; a personal energy specialist, utilizing "the healing process" which led to Jerrie-Ann's very peaceful passing, on April 4, 2009. Rensselaer County Hospice gently and lovingly helped Jerrie-Ann to complete her journey.

Jerrie-Ann was Ken's soul mate, conscience, and dancing partner until her passing. May she continue to call us beyond ourselves, be our intercessor and spiritual guide.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, April 7, 2009, from 3:00-6:00 pm at St. Henry's Church Old Route 66 Averill Park . Mass will be at 6:00 pm, immediately followed by a reception with music.
