Jennie (Jean) Wojcik Gizara, 95

Port Charlotte, FL - Jennie (Jean) Wojcik Gizara, 95, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, died Sunday, April 15, 2007 in Port Charlotte, Florida, where she resided for almost 30 years.

Born in Lipinki, Poland, she was the daughter of the late Anthony Wojcik and Karolina Fraczek Wojcik, and wife of the late Chester J. Gizara, to whom she was married for 65 years. Jennie came to the United States in 1916 with her family, lived and was educated in Amsterdam, New York. Jennie and Chester (Chet) Gizara lived in Wynantskill, NY for many years before moving to Port Charlotte permanently, spending summers at their family camp in Dyken Pond, NY.

Most of Jennie's life was spent devoted to her family as a homemaker. She was known for her love of gardening and quilting, winning many prizes at local fairs for her work. She was a communicant of Church of the Ascension in Troy and active in the Womens' Guild. For a period of time, Mrs. Gizara was employed at Cluett, Peabody & Company in Troy.

Jenny is survived by two sons, William A. Gizara of Port Charlotte, Florida and Thomas A. Gizara (Jeanne) of Valatie, New York; a daughter, Carol A. Harlow (George D. Harlow - deceased) of North Greenbush, New York, six grandchildren, a great grandson and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Julian Wojcik of Amsterdam and two sisters, Emily Michalczak of Amsterdam and Lottie Sumeracki of Detroit, Michigan.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 9:15 AM at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy, NY and 10:00 AM at Trinity Church 1336 First Avenue Watervliet, NY with Rev. Martin Wendell, Rector, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4-8 PM.
