Janet Lessels Evans

Janet Lessels Evans, 81 Wynantskill Janet Lessels Evans, 81, of Jennifer Drive, died Tuesday at St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness. A life-long resident of Troy, she was daughter of the late Walter David and Helen Allen Lessels and wife of the late Fay Auld Evans Jr. She was educated at Emma Willard School and Russell Sage College. Mrs. Evans was a homemaker. A 35 year member of the Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary, where she operated the Corner Shop, she also was a member of the Junior League of Troy, the Ilium Literary Club as well as an American Red Cross volunteer. Mrs. Evans was a communicant of St. John's Episcopal Church in Troy. Survivors include two sons David Allen Evans of Alexandria, VA and Thomas Dwight Evans of Selkirk; three daughters Carol Evans Deitz of Poestenkill, Elizabeth (Lisa) Evans Mainella of Wynantskill and Katherine Evans Parsley of Troy; eleven grandchildren Jennifer Allard, Sarah and David Evans, Laura and Alexandra Deitz, Andrea, Dana and Michael Mainella and Evan, Adam and Katy Parsley and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial service which will be held Friday at 2:00pm from Gardner Earl Memorial Chapel at Oakwood Cemetery in Troy with Rev. William Small, Rector of St. John's Episcopal Church, officiating. There will be no calling hours. Interment Oakwood Cemetery in Troy.
