James Whiton

Troy - James N. Whiton, born 1932 in Troy, died in the place of his birth on August 24, 2016. 

His father was a lawyer, his mother a librarian, and they gave him an appreciation of words and language. He went to sea in the summer of 1950 upon graduating Troy’s educational system to be an excellent one.

No matter where, no matter how far away, Troy was always there in his heart, that grand old river city on the Upper Hudson. And now home is the sailor, home from the sea. Jim will be buried next to his father in Troy’s Oakwood Cemetery.

And he much liked these words from yore: “All is change, all yields its place and goes. Believe each day to have dawned as your last, and then do good.”
