James L. Garrahan, 75

Brunswick - James L. Garrahan, 75, of Spring Avenue Extension died Friday, April 6, 2012, at Heritage House Nursing Center after a brief illness.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late Frank J. Garrahan and Elizabeth G. Cavanaugh Garrahan and husband of Gloria Basios Garrahan. He had resided in Troy and Brunswick all his life and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School.

Jim was a lab technician for GE Silicone in Waterford for 30 years retiring 13 years ago.

An equestrian all his life, he was active in the Eastern States in Open Jumping competition and involved in the St. Jude's Open Jumping team. He was a member of the Grafton Trail Riders and was know for his plantings of cannas plants. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors in addition to his wife include his children, Colleen Garrahan, Schaghticoke, Timothy Garrahan, Schaghticoke, M. Kate (Donald) Nadeau, Cambridge, BarbaraAnn (Lewis) Makinson, Loudonville and Peter J. (Lucia) Fondano, AZ; a sister - Janet A. (Mrs Charles) Dodson, Troy; his grandchildren, Adrienne Davenport, Schaghticoke, Elizabeth, Jeremy and Hunter Nadeau, Cambridge, Brooke Pike, WI, Ryan and Justine Makinson, Loudonville and Nicholas and Peter J. Fondano, AZ and three nieces and a nephew.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Tuesday from 4-7 PM.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 AM at the funeral home Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy and at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated will be celebrated by Rev. James J. Vaughan.

Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery Troy.
