James H. Bowman

Brunswick - James H. Bowman, on Sunday, November 11, 2007 died peacefully at his home, eight days before his 81st birthday. Jim was the husband of Arden Lenegar Bowman for 59 years. Born in Troy, he was son of the late Wilbur H. and Minnie O'Dell Bowman.

He attended Troy High School prior to enlisting in the United States Coast Guard during WWII. He was employed at the Watervliet Arsenal as a supervisor of Crane Operation and Motor Pool for 30 years retiring in 1983. He was also a Chief Warrant Officer CW4 with the New York State Army National Guard for 30 years with the 27th Armored Tank Division and later with 205th Headquarters Company.

Jim was an avid gardener and sportsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling at his Adirondack camp. He was a lifelong communicant of St. John's Episcopal Church in Troy serving on the Vestry. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Apollo- King Solomon's Masonic lodge. He loved life and family and kept busy with his ongoing projects in his garage.

He was preceded in death by his parents Wilbur and Minnie; his daughter, Jeanette Bowman; his brother, Joseph Bowman of Troy and his sister, Dorothy Riker of Long Island.

Jim is survived by his wife Arden Lenegar Bowman; his son, James A. Bowman; his daughters, Judith (Matthew) Fitzgerald, Jo Anne (Jeffery Hurlburt) Latham and Jill (Bryan) Winters, his sister, Lois DeMartino of Florida; as well as 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:00 AM at the St. John's Episcopal Church 146 First Street Troy with Rev. Dr. Harold Carrier, Rector, officiating.

Interment Eagle Mills Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Dr. Santoro, Dr. Echt, and the Rubin Dialysis Center for his recent care.
