West Sand Lake - James A. Hart, 76, of Route 150 West Sand Lake died Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Samaritan Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Troy, he was son of the late Edward B. Hart and Sophie A. Cytrynak Hart and husband of Carol F. Teal Hart. He had resided in the West Sand Lake area all his life and was a graduate of St. Lawrence School in Troy and Averill Park High School.
Jim was owner and operator of Hart's Fuel Service in West Sand Lake from 1965-1998, which is now operated by his son Jay.
Jim was a true example of a hard working family man that would do anything for anyone. He will be greatly missed. He was an active area resident and a member of the Poestenkill Business Association, the West Sand Lake Fire Company, Sand Lake Ambulance, the Oil Heat Institute of Eastern New York and a communicant of St. Henry's Church in Averill Park. Jim had many hobbies including playing poker, fishing, collecting classic cars and paperweights, NASCAR, and attending antique car shows. He was a Navy veteran in the SEABEE's.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter, Pamela (Donald Sr.) Lobdell, Averill Park; a son, James (Jennifer L.) Hart, Jr., East Greenbush; two sisters, Mary Pat Hart, West Sand Lake and Virginia (William) Sauter, Ormond Beach, FL; a brother, Thomas W. (Diane) Hart, Poestenkill; his grandchildren, Cheryl (Nicholas) Lobdell-Lombardi, Donny (Caitlin) Lobdell, Christy (Anthony) Lobdell-Casale, Paul Lobdell and Colleen, Abigail and Emma Hart; his great grandchildren, Nicholas Lombardi, Jr. and Levi Lobdell and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Edward B. Hart Jr. And Andrew Hart.
Relatives and friends may call at the St. Henry's Church 39 Old Route 66 Averill Park on Friday, July 17, 2015 from 4-7 PM.
Funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 AM at the CHURCH where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Thomas F. Holmes, Pastor.
Interment will be in St. Henry's Cemetery Averill Park.
