Henry Russell Weiss

East Greenbush - Henry Russell Weiss, 91, of Troy Road died Friday, January 15, 2016, at Rosewood Gardens after a brief illness.

Born in Colonie, he was son of the late Philip H. Weiss and Ella Clother Weiss. He was raised in Colonie and resided in Glenmont for many years and was a graduate of Philip Schuyler High School in Albany, class of 1942. 

Mr. Weiss was a carpenter for the New York State Office of General Services for 12 years and prior to that worked as a farmer and for the Lathers Union and Carpenters Union.  He was a talented woodworker and carpenter his entire life.  

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Colonie and later First Lutheran Church in Albany. Russell was an Army veteran of  World War II. 

Survivors include a son, Thomas H. Weiss, Wynantskill; a daughter-in-law, Jill Bryce; a grandson, Russell T. (Kate) Weiss, E. Albury, New South Wales, Australia; a great granddaughter, Isabelle Weiss and 21 nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his siblings, William E. Weiss, Marion Klapp, Millicent Van Zetten and Robert Weiss.

A memorial service will be held later at a date to be determined
