Helena Grimm, 97

Troy- Helena Grimm, 97,of Troy, died Monday, June 12, 2006 at Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy.

Born May 31, 1909, Helena was the only daughter of the late Max and Helen Bachman Grimm, and a Troy resident for all of her life. Her brothers Carl, William, and Harold predeceased her. Helena is survived by her brother Frederick and his wife Marcia, of Niskayuna, and twelve nieces and nephews and their children to whom she was a loving presence for many years.

Following graduation from Troy High School she began work as a stenographer for the New York State Department of Labor and retired as confidential secretary of the Board of Standards and Appeals. Helena continued her education with many State Training Courses, and served over 50 years, until her retirement in 1970.

She belonged to the Business and Professional Women's Club for 50 years and served in many offices there, directed numerous charity drives including Community Chest and was chairman of the Foreign Student Program. She was a member of the Junior Museum, American Society of Public Administrators, the Troy YMCA and Faith Lutheran Church. Miss Grimm traveled to many parts of the world and also enjoyed the Silver Bay Association at Lake George.

Memorial service will be held Friday, June 23, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy with Rev. Stephen Cordes, officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery in Troy.

Contributions may be made in memory of Miss Grimm to the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center 2256 Burdett Avenue Troy, NY 12180.

The family would like to thank the staff at Eddy Memorial for their kind and gentle care these past four years.
