Latham - Helen F. Mosher Callahan Gallagher, 75, of Florence Drive died suddenly Friday, November 21, 2014, at her residence.
Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late George Mosher Sr. and Helen F. Sebranski Mosher and wife for 25 years of Robert J. Gallagher. She was raised in Troy and Wynantskill and resided in Clifton Park for 30 years and was a 1957 graduate of Catholic Central High School.
Mrs. Gallagher was a clerk for the New York State Department of Housing for 20 years, retiring in 2001.
She was an exceptionally dedicated volunteer with her husband at Our Lady of Hope Residence in Latham for many years and an active communicant of St. Augustine's Church in Lansingburgh, a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She was also a volunteer for the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 8758 and Veteran’s of Lansingburgh.
Survivors in addition to her husband include her daughter, Mary Lee Callahan Plekan (Scott) Kiernan, Wynantskill; her three step children, Mark Gallagher, New Baltimore, NY, Matthew Gallagher, Sacandaga Lake and Christopher Gallagher, Halfmoon; her grandchildren, Bruce Michael Plekan, Krystina and Jerrod Plekan, David A. Bornt Jr. And Samantha, Jamie and Kelsey Bornt; her great grandchildren, Isabelle and Abigail Plekan, Emma and Sophia Bornt, Kayden Righi and Lucas Frederick and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Maureen Callahan Bornt; a son, Michael J. Callahan Jr.; two sisters, Georgeann Bailey Smith and Joyce Cossack and her former husband, Michael J. Callahan Sr.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Monday, November 24, 2014 from 4-7 PM.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 8:45 AM at the funeral home and at 9:30 AM at St. Augustine's Church Lansingburgh where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. James Spenard OSA , Pastor.
Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery Troy.
