Helen Elizabeth Connors

Averill Park - Helen Elizabeth Connors, born August 6, 1946 made her final journey into the loving arms of the Lord and her father, Edward A. Connors and her mother, Francis Hooley Connors on February 3.

Born with cerebral palsy, Helen courageously overcame a lifetime of challenges. She graduated from the Academy of Holy Names in 1965 and went on to receive her Associate s Degree from Hudson Valley Community College.

Helen worked for the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles in Albany, retiring in 2001. Helen then followed her dream of retiring to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Shortly thereafter she was critically injured in a car accident and fought for seven years to reclaim her independence. "Hellie" enjoyed trips to Florida, her time on the beach and the warmth of the sun on her face.

Helen is survived by her sisters, Mary Ellen Connors Trumbull and Katy Connors McCaffrey (Charles W.), her niece, Kimberly Trumbull Hill (Samuel J.), and her nephew, Christopher Trumbull (Jennifer). She adored her family and shared many happy gatherings at the lake. Life took an even brighter turn for Hellie with the birth of her grand nieces, Kyla Marie and Karson MacKenzie Hill whose great adventures gave her many hours of delight. She was a friend of Bill Wilson's for over 30 years. The family wishes to thank the staff of Rosewood Gardens, the Albany Medical Center MICU, and Dr. Andrew Dubin. Helen treasured her 25 year friendship with Tom Conway with whom she enjoyed many hours of very animated political discussions. Tom was her best friend in every sense of the word.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 8:45 AM at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy and at 9:30 AM at St. Mary's Church Albany where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
