Helen L. (FitzGerald) Breen

Troy - Helen L. FitzGerald Breen, 77, of Woods Path died Thursday, June 16, 2016, at her residence after a long illness.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Gerald B. FitzGerald and Lucy Heenan FitzGerald. She was raised in Troy and resided in Buffalo and Tampa, Florida before returning to Troy 25 years ago and was a  graduate of Catholic Central High School and St. Peter's School of Nursing. 

Helen was a Registered Nurse for many hospitals including Mass General, Arlington, VA, Samaritan and St. Mary's Hospitals.  

She was a volunteer for The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County and in Tampa, Florida an abused women’s organization.  She was a charter member of the OLV Alzheimer Care Team and enjoyed volunteering her time to help others.  Helen was know for her keen sense of humor and wit and her kindness. 
  
Survivors include her children, John G. (Laurie) Breen, Fort Leavenworth, KS, Timothy F. (Samantha) Breen, Vero Beach, FL and Kathryn Breen, Troy; a brother, Gerald (Christine) FitzGerald, Plymouth Meeting, PA; a brother-in-law, Thomas Dean, Aiken, SC; a sister-in-law, Ann (Buddy) Breen Grace, Troy;  her grandchildren, Anastacia, John Thomas, Nicholas, Aidan, Addison and Jeffrey and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  She was predeceased by a son, Michael Breen and a sister, Maureen A. Dean.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Ave Troy  on Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 10 AM -12 PM with a service at 12 Noon. 

The family wishes to thank the staff of the ICU and PCU at St. Mary's Hospital and Doctors Hussain Khawaja, Numan Rashid, Leonard Goldstock, William Robinson, Sr.  and Timothy Collins and Rene Kerner, NP.
