Helen M. Ammerman, 95

Guilderland - Helen M. Ammerman, 95, died Friday, January 2, 2009 at Good Samaritan Lutheran Health Care in Delmar after a brief illness.

Born in Everly, Iowa, she was daughter of the late Thomas Roskens and Dena (Boyenga) Roskens and wife of the late Rev. Paul E. Ammerman, a retired Reformed church pastor.

She had resided in Hurley, NY; Albany, NY; Hammond, Indiana, DeFreestville, NY and upon retirement in Guilderland. She attended normal school for teachers in Iowa.

Mrs. Ammerman was a teacher until her marriage and most of her life was the ultimate pastor's wife and a homemaker.

She volunteered for 20 years at the Albany Medical Center Hospital in oncology and radiation during the time that her husband was Chaplain at the hospital. She was involved in many church related organizations and a dedicated supporter of the Albany River Rats Booster Club.

Survivors include her children, Paul D. (Victoria) Ammerman of Palatine, NY, Marilyn A. (David) Bradley of Voorheesville, NY and Don (Jan) Ammerman of Castleton; two sisters, Gladys Blass of Milford, IA and Alma (Clarence) Birchard of Everly, IA and her grandchildren, Laurie, Beth, Jason, and Douglas Ammerman, Ben (Cheryl) and Alison (William Keible) Bradley and Erika and Leah Ammerman and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the First Church in Albany (Reformed) 110 North Pearl Street Albany with Rev. John Paarlberg, Pastor, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc., 276 Pawling Avenue, Troy, NY on Monday, from 4-8 PM.

Contributions may be made in memory of Helen M. Ammerman the First Church in Albany 110 North Pearl Street Albany, NY 12207 or the charity of one's choice.
