Hazel Jane Lansing Gorgen Cobb, 90

Troy Hazel Jane Lansing Gorgen Cobb, 90, formerly of Blakely Court, died Tuesday August 22, 2002 at Samaritan Hospital Troy, after a brief illness.

Born in North Greenbush, she was daughter of the late William E. and Clara L. Cole Lansing and wife of the late Leland D. Cobb Sr. who died in 1983 and Henry Joseph Gorgen who died in 1973. She was raised on the family farm on Route 4 in North Greenbush and for many years resided on Blakely Court on the East Side of Troy and was educated at Troy schools.

Mrs. Cobb was employed at Cluett, Peabody & Company in Troy for many years in various capacities, retiring in 1973 as a supervisor.

She was a member of the Pawling Avenue United Methodist Church and the Community United Methodist Church in Holiday Florida. She was a vibrant women who was extremely self-sufficient, having painted her own home and upholstered furniture among many others arts. She was seen for years walking the East Side of Troy.

Survivors include two nieces Kay Gorgen Robillard and husband Don of Schenectady and Marie Evans of Albany; two step sons Leland D. Cobb Jr. and wife Ruth of North Eastham, MA and Robert T. Cobb and wife Barbara of Hot Springs, AR; a step daughter Mary Cobb Hiltbrand and husband Ralph of Bristol, CT; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother Howard Lansing.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00am from the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy with Rev. Peter Kelly, Pastor of the Pawling Avenue United Methodist Church, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 5-8pm. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Cobb to the charity of ones choice.
