Harry Moss, Jr., 91

Troy - Harry Moss, Jr., 91, of Harris Road Troy died Saturday, September 3, 2011, at Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late Harry A. Moss and Estella Nutting Moss and husband for 70 years of Rita M. Moss. He was raised in Troy and resided in Poughkeepsie many years and returned to Troy in July of this year and was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School and Troy Business College.

Mr. Moss was employed as Manager of Poughkeepsie Plumbing and Heating for over 30 years and prior to that at Hoys Plumbing in Albany and many years ago at Wilsons Meat Packing and Bakers Meat Market.

He was a veteran of the Merchant Marines during World War II surviving torpedos and typhoons and a member of the Merchant Marine Association.

Survivors in addition to his wife include his daughter, Barbara Holmes, Wynantskill; his son, Stephen Moss, Poughkeepsie; two grandchildren, John (Karri) Holmes and Thorin Moss; two great grandchildren, Mikayla and Madelyne Holmes.

Relatives and friends may call at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 4392 Route 150, West Sand Lake on Tuesday from 3-4 PM with a service to follow at 4 PM.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Harry Moss to The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County 295 Valley View Boulevard Rensselaer, NY 12144.
