Harold J. LaClair Sr., 71

Poestenkill Harold J. LaClair Sr., 71, of Williams Street, died suddenly Sunday.

Born in Churubusco, NY he was son of the late John L. and Rose Jarvais LaClair and husband for 51 years of Beatrice M. Nates LaClair. He had resided in Watervliet until 1964 when he moved to Poestenkill.

Mr. LaClair was a fireman in the boiler house at Norton Company in Watervliet for 39 years, retiring in 1987.

He was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church in North Greenbush and a member of St. Michael's Men's Club, Norton Retirees Club and the Papermakers Union. He was an avid outdoorsman.

Survivors in addition to his wife include a son, Harold J. LaClair Jr. of Poestenkill; a daughter,Geraldine Griswold (Michael Sr.) of North Greenbush; two brothers, Herman LaClair (Gigi) of Clifton Park and John LaClair (Elizabeth) of Schenectady; a sister, Geraldine Fleuren (Henry) of Waterford; sisters and brothers-in-law Theresa and William Seeloff, Peter and Vivan Nates and the late Bertha Goyer; grandfather of Michelle Ayers (Erik), Michael Griswold Jr. (Susie) and John and Jennifer LaClair; 6 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, uncles, cousins and many close friends.

Funeral service will be held Thursday at 9:00am from the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenue Troy and at 9:30am from St. Michael the Archangel Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-8pm. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum in Troy.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Mr. LaClair to St. Michael the Archangel Church Williams Road Troy, NY 12180.
