Grace Sunukjian, 98

Troy - Grace Sunukjian, 98,of Meadowlawn Avenue died Monday, December 25, 2006 at Van Rensselaer Manor after a brief illness.

Born in Marash, Turkey, she was the daughter of the late James Sunukjian and Freida (Hoshafian) Sunukjian and wife of the late Jack Sunukjian.

She came to the United States to Boston at the age of 13 and had resided in Troy since 1935.

Mrs. Sunukjian was a seamstress for Cluett, Peabody & Company in Troy, Marvin-Neitzel and Jonathan Logan, retiring 36 years ago.

She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, now Hope United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women and the Ladies Aid Society. She was a terrific cook and enjoyed crocheting, making many blankets for family and seniors as a volunteer.

Survivors include two daughters, Rose Topian (Anthony) of Troy and Joyce Popp (Jerome) of East Greenbush; two sisters, Alice Sunukjian of Troy and Helen Sunukjian of Chicago; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer, Jill, Peggy and David and 5 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Sarkis Sunukjian.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 12 noon at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy with Rev. Arthur Hagy, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 10-12noon prior to the service.

Interment Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy.

Contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Sunukjian to the Hope United Methodist Church Building Fund 566 Brunswick Road Troy, NY 12180 or The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County 295 Valley View Boulevard Rensselaer, NY 12144.

The family would like to thank the staff of third floor section A at the Van Rensselaer Manor for their care and love for Grace.
