Gordon A. Tyas, 80

Gordon A. Tyas, 80, of Philadelphia, PA died Monday December 15, 2008 at St. Peter's Hospital Albany, NY with family members present.

Beloved husband of Theresa (Eiding) Tyas for the past 52 years, with whom he was truly in love. Born in Philadelphia, son of the late Samuel and Rose (Isles) Tyas.

Survivors in addition to his wife include: son Kevin (& JoAnn) Tyas; daughter Karen (& Robert) Pabst; daughter Michelle (& Andrew) Poulin; daughter-in-law Jeannette Tyas; 13 grandchildren; 2 great grandsons; sister Nell Levinson; brother Frank (& Kay) Tyas; two brothers-in-law Patrick Eiding & Robert Eiding; sister-in-law Joan; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his son, Kenneth Tyas, and his brother, Samuel Tyas.

Graduate of North East High School (Philadelphia); Army Veteran during the Korean War, stationed in Germany; and a lineman for Bell Atlantic for 33 years, retiring in 1991.

Gordon enjoyed hunting, fixing things around the house and riding his motorcycle - "the trip across the country" told so many times to friends and loved ones.

Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a memorial service at the Burns Funeral Home Saturday from 11am-1pm. Contributions may be made in memory of Gordon A. Tyas to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
