Gerald E. (Jerry) Oathout, 71

Troy Gerald E. (Jerry) Oathout, 71, of Troy, N.Y. and Ormond Beach, Fla. was reunited with his wife in Heaven, Wednesday, March 3, 2004. He was the beloved husband of Nuralon (Lonnie) Oathout who predeceased him September 10,2003.

Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Gerald M. Oathout and Edith Rose (Alma) Dufresne Oathout. He was educated in Troy Schools, Catholic Central High School and Siena College.

He was the owner of Goth Machine Co, Inc., taught automotive repair at H.V.C.C., and was a realtor for Bob Howard Realty, Realty USA, and Watson's Realty Corp.

He was on the Board of Directors at Hope 7 Community Center and Habitat for Humanity of Rensselaer County. He was a 15 year member and 10 year Secretary of the Kiwanis Club of Wynantskill, as well as Secretary of the Van Rensselaer Division of Kiwanis- Division Council.

He was the loving father of John G. Oathout (Paula), Jill A. Wade (Robert), and Jeffrey E. Oathout, all of Troy; brother of Leah G. Oathout of Costa Mesa, Calif.; special brother-in-law of Richard and Frances Corbeil and David and Donna Brennan; devoted grandfather of Devon and Robert Wade, Joshua Shoemaker, Andrew Oathout, and William and Daniel Covell. Also survived by several nieces and nephews and special friend of William and Cara O'Keefe.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 9:00am from the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy and at 9:30am from Sacred Heart Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 4-7pm.

Contributions may be made in memory of Jerry to Habitat for Humanity of Rensselaer County, 82 Third Street, Troy, NY 12180.
