George D. Hamm Sr., 71

Wynantskill-George D. Hamm Sr.,71 ,of Hemmingway Avenue, died Saturday, July 22, 2006 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy after a brief illness.

Born in Troy, he was the son of the late George N. Hamm and Anna (Curtin) Hamm and husband for 48 years of Rita M. Rosenberger Hamm.

He had resided in the Troy area all his life and was educated at Sacred Heart School and Troy High School.

George worked for D.A. Lanzetta Marble Company in Albany for 17 years, prior to the Freihofer Baking Company in Albany where he worked for 20 years, retiring in 1996.

He was communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Church in Wynantskill. He vacationed in Garden City, South Carolina for many years. George and Rita and two other couples had a wedding reunion each year at Lake Champlain. George was a man who enjoyed his family, fishing, dogs including Betsy his cocker spaniel and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War stationed on the USN New Jersey #62.

Survivors include a son, George D. Hamm Jr. (Gabriele) of Johnsonville; a daughter, Kelly A. Hamm (Mark Cusack) of Averill Park; he was poppie to his three grandchildren, Bettina M., Krista L. and Robert G. Hamm of Johnsonville; a sister, Shirley Hermance (Henry) of Rensselaer, sisters and brothers-in-law, Pete and Judy, Harry and Joan Rosenberger and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Marilyn Hamm.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 9:00 AM at Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy and 9:30 AM at St. Jude the Apostle Church Brookside Avenue in Wynantskill where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Salvatore Rodino, Pastor.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-8pm.

Interment Evergreen Cemetery in Wynantskill.
