George C. Derbyshire , 82

North Greenbush George C. Derbyshire , 82 ,of Snyders Lake Road died Sunday, December 26, 2004 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy after a long illness.

Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Clarence Derbyshire and Priscilla (McCade) Derbyshire and husband for 58 years of Janet Rouse Derbyshire.

Raised in Albany, he had resided in North Greenbush since 1966 and was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy in Albany.

Mr. Derbyshire was Principal Account Clerk for New York State Environmental Conservation in Albany for 35 years, retiring in 1984.

He was a member of the Marine Nightfighters and the Wynantskill American Legion and a Marine Corp veteran of World War II serving in the Southwest Pacific.

Survivors in addition to his wife include a son, George M. Derbyshire of Selkirk; a daughter, Sherry L. Messier of Salem, NY; nine grandchildren, Rachel Parker, Matthew and George J. Derbyshire, Rose Jojo, Emily and Elizabeth Derbyshire and Nathaniel, Elissa and Christian Webb; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Melissa Ellen Derbyshire and four sisters, Mary Ruth Conley, Grace Witbeck, Priscilla Early and Mildred Derbyshire.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:30 AM at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Interment Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands.
