George H. Bedian, 92

Loudonville - George H. Bedian, 92 , of Barry Court Loudonville, died Saturday May 24, 2008 at Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Marash, Turkey, he was son of the late Yeghishe Bedian and Haganoosh (Dishian) Bedian and husband of the late Arpena 'Penny' (Hagopian) Bedian.

He was raised in Beirut, Lebanon and in 1933 came to the United States to Patterson, NJ. He later lived in Albany and North Greenbush where he raised his family. He attended American University in Lebanon.

George was a partner with his brother Zane Bedian at Zane's Market in Averill Park retiring in 1980 and previously operated with his partner Jack Renslow, Allied Metallurgical in Latham.

He was a member of the Armenian General Benevolent Union, a long time member of St. Peter Armenian Apostolic Church and past Chairman of its Parish Council and a former Chaplain of the Simonian-Avakian VFW Post in Watervliet. He was Sergeant in the US Army during World War II.

Survivors include his children, Linda P. Bedian of Loudonville, Robert Y. (Sandra A.) Bedian of Poestenkill, George M. (Lisa P.) Bedian of Loudonville and Diane A. (Stephen L.) Harff of Manlius, NY; two sisters, Anna Chorbajian of Albany and Jule Belemjian of Fresno, CA; his grandchildren, Deena-Marie A., Michael K., Daniel G., Ashley A. and Thomas J. Bedian and Carter G. Harff and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Lucy Nighosian and 2 brothers, Zane and Jeremiah Bedian.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30am at St. Peter Armenian Apostolic Church 100 Troy-Schenectady Road Watervliet with Rev. Bedros Kadehjian, Pastor, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc., 276 Pawling Avenue, Troy, on Tuesday from 4-8 pm. Interment will be in Albany Rural Cemetery Menands.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of George Bedian to St. Peter Armenian Apostolic Church 100 Troy-Schenectady Road Watervliet, NY 12189 or Rubin Dialysis Center 1850 Peoples Avenue, Troy, NY 12180.
