George Henry Clickner 'Tex' Bayly, 90

Poestenkill - George Henry Clickner 'Tex' Bayly, 90, after a long heroic battle with Parkinson's disease died peacefully at his home Friday, November 2, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was the first born son of the late George Frederick Bayly and Agnes Theresa Clickner Bayly and a devoted husband of 52 years to the late Etta Mae Wager Bayly.

He resided in Poestenkill most of his life, attending LaSalle Institute and Troy High School before enlisting in the Marine Corps with his brother, Tucker, in 1942, actively serving the Pacific Theatre of WWII. He was a founding member of the Poestenkill VFW.

Tex was a skilled carpenter, gifted storyteller famously known for his dry wit, gardener and equestrian who delighted in sharing his love of these things with his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was an avid reader enjoying Shakespearian tragedies as well as the works of Mark Twain.

He retired from Van Rensselaer Manor after over 30 years of service.

He led an exemplary life, showing kindness to all, holding family most dear and protecting those who were weaker, while cherishing and serving to preserve nature.

It gave him great peace to be in his own home surrounded by his family and Golden Retriever with a wood fire blazing and his favorite Classical music blasting from the kitchen.

Survivors include his three children, Deborah Mae Bayly, Poestenkill, Darlene Anne 'Leanie' (Robert M. Sochaki) Bayly, Northville, MI, and Robert Hal (Catherine Karp) Bayly, Grafton; his sisters Laurel Grayburn Scott, Burden Lake, Agnes Theresa Bayly Salerno, Troy, Norma K. Bayly Dixon, NC; his grandchildren Nicole Ellen Bayly (Steve) Henshaw, Erin Mae Bayly (James Schram), Megan Bayly (Chris) Brown, Chelsea Bayly Sochaki, Terrance Bayly Sochaki, Irene Karp Bayly, Nora Karp Bayly; eight great grandchildren; his daughter-in-law, Susan Broderick Bayly, Eagle Mills; his sisters-in-law, Alice M. Bayly, Schaghticoke, Hermelinda Bayly, Poestenkill, and Anne Shirley (Lawrence) Wagar Grass, Northville, MI; and many nieces, nephews and cousins, He was predeceased by his son George Terrance Bayly and his brothers, Thomas Lester 'Tucker' and Henry Archer 'Hal' Bayly.

Relatives and friends may call at St. Henry's Church Old Route 66 Averill Park on Monday, from 10-11AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11AM with, Rev. Thomas Holmes, Pastor.

Interment will be in Eagle Mills Cemetery, Eagle Mills.
