Gentiel Vandeputte, 92

Halfmoon - Gentiel Vandeputte, 92, of Crescent City Mobile Home Park passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, in the love and comfort of his family on Sunday, May 27, 2012.

He was born in Waragem, Belgium on February 4, 1920 where he was a ship builder until coming to the US in 1955. He was husband of the late Louise Broothaers Vandeputte.

After retiring from the New York State Thruway Authority, he loved spending time with his children on the lake fishing and boating. He also loved bowling with all his senior friends. He enjoyed taking his yearly trip back to Belgium, visiting family and friends, until a year before he passed.

Survivors include a son, Roger (Suzanne) Vandeputte, Troy; his grandchildren, Nicole (Michael) Menard, and Christopher and Dion Vandeputte; a great grandchild, Savannah Menard; his step grandchildren, Maria (Kevin) Vooris and Michelle Bucciero, Suzanne (Christopher) Spofford; his step great grandchildren, Joseph and Jessica Vooris and Gavin and Emily Spofford. He was predeceased by his son, Walter Vandeputte and a grandson, Jason Vandeputte.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the graveside service Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 10:45AM by meeting outside the office of Memory Gardens 983 Watervliet - Shaker Road Colonie.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Gentiel Vandeputte to The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County 295 Valley View Boulevard Rensselaer, NY 12144.
