Freeman 'Hoppy, Dusty and Tiny' Hopp, 79

Troy - Freeman 'Hoppy, Dusty and Tiny' Hopp, 79, of Pawling Avenue died Sunday, April 27, 2014, at his residence after a long illness.

Born in Cohoes, he was son of the late Seth Hopp and Lena Larrow Hopp and husband for 27 years of Karyl (Fish) Hopp. He was raised in Waterford and attended Waterford High School and Rutgers, Cornell and Disney University where he learned how to train managers and teach them goal-setting skills.

Hoppy was employed in human relations and was in charge of safety, security and training at Freihofer Baking Company, where he had worked for 41 years. He later worked with his wife at her flower shop and at D&S Driveway Sealing. He worked as a bar tender at many area establishments and later worked at Albany Park, Ride and Fly for 14 years, retiring in January of 2014.

He was a member of 'The Brotherhood' in Waterford, the Korean War Veteran's and involved in the dedication of the memorial in Washington, DC. He was a Silver Glove boxer in Glens Falls, a certified diver many years ago, a Trustee at the Round Lake United Methodist Church and Volunteer Fireman for Peck Hose in Waterford. He was a Marine Corps veteran stationed in Korea.

Survivors in addition to his wife include his children, Lance (Lorraine) Hopp, Clifton Park, Christopher (Joy) Hopp, Round Lake and Gary McKay, Troy and two grandchildren, Brittany and Sophia Hopp. He was predeceased by a brother, Edward Hopp. He is also survived by a very large, extended family of in-laws (Fish, Garceau, Guild, O'Brien) and close, loving friends.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue, Troy on Friday from 4-7 PM.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 AM at the Pawling Avenue United Methodist Church 520 Pawling Avenue Troy with Rev. Karyl Hopp and Rev. Jim Knapp, officiating.

Interment will be in Eastline Union Cemetery Round Lake.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Freeman Hopp to the Pawling Avenue United Methodist Church 520 Pawling Avenue Troy, NY 12180.
