Frederic J. Mulholland, 89

East Greenbush - Frederic J. Mulholland, 89, of Luther Road died peacefully Tuesday, August 6, 2013, at Evergreen Commons.

Born in Troy, NY, he was son of the late John Mulholland and Catherine Alber Mulholland and husband of Ruth Long Mulholland. He had resided in Troy all his life and was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School and attended Hudson Valley Community College.

Mr. Mulholland was Associate Director of the Budget for New York State under Governor's Wilson, Carey and Mario Cuomo, retiring in 1987 after 23 years in New York State Government and 23 years in the Federal Government in Military and at the Watervliet Arsenal.

Fred was a disabled American veteran receiving a Purple Heart during World War II while in the Army Air Corp, First Tacticle Air Force in the 358th Fighter Group, 367th Squadron. It was the most decorated fighter group. He was a P47 Thurderbolt pilot. Fred was a member of the P47 Tunderbolt Pilots Association, active leadership in the Military Order of the Purple Heart in Troy and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was also active leadership in the Boy Scouts, a team manager of Twin Town Little League, a member of the First Reformed Church of Wynantskill, enjoyed several area bowling leagues, a NY Mets fan and enjoyed camping and travel. On July 4, 2012, he threw out the first pitch at the Valley Cats game.

Survivors in addition to his wife include three sons, Lt Col Mark F. Mulholland USAF Ret (Susan), Leesburg, VA, Rev. David W. Mulholland (Lee), Putney, VT and Bruce M. Mulholland (Michele), Hebron, KY; five grandchildren, Ashley, Lynn, Michael, Liam and Nathaniel Mulholland and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Michael Mulholland; three brothers, Raymond, John and William Mulholland and two sisters, Catherine Mulholland and Margaret DuCharme.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Monday from 10-11AM with a funeral service at 11AM with Rev. David W. Mulholland, his son, officiating.

Interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery Troy.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Frederic J. Mulholland to the Charity of one's choice.
