Franz L.F. Nicolay

Rexford, NY Franz L.F. Nicolay, 90, of Coburg Village Way, died Thursday in Troy, NY. Born in Munich, Germany he was son of the late Carl and Babette Haussleigner Nicolay. He lived most of his life in Ridge, NY, moving to Clifton Park in 2002. He owned and operated, with his wife, an office machines dealership retiring in 1998. Mr. Nicolay was longtime Council President of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Ridge, founded Nicolay's Chess Club at Longwood Library and was a charter member and past president of the Middle Island Rotary Club.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years Margaret Cordes Nicolay; daughters, Tina Greenfield (James) of Rensselaer, NY and Karen Allard (Lionel III) of Rockville, MD; son, Franz Nicolay (Susan) of Center Sandwich, NH; sister Betty Dankenbring (Siegfried) of Oyster Bay, NY; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service Thursday at 10:00am at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Clifton Park. Calling at Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-9PM. Contributions to the Middle Island Rotary Club-Polio Plus Fund or to St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
