Francis Vumbacco, 68

Troy - Francis Vumbacco, 68, of South Lake Avenue Troy died Monday, July 26, 2010, at Kindred Hospital Boston, MA after a long illness.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late Anthony Vumbacco, and Mary Fuda Vumbacco and beloved husband for 40 years of Katherine R. Crossen Vumbacco. He had resided in the Troy area all his life and attended Troy schools.

Mr. Vumbacco worked at Ford Motor Company in Green Island for 24 years until its closing in 1988 where he developed long lasting friendships with many people. He later worked at RPI in Environmental Services and Hudson Valley Community College in event setups until developing heart disease in 1994.

He enjoyed golfing every week and meeting with his Beman Park friends at the Knotty Pine. In his younger years he played ball in the Over 30 Softball League also for the Knotty Pine. He enjoyed coaching South Troy baseball, Pop Warner football and golfing in the Ford Golf League. He loved spending time with his family and was extremely close to his grandson and best friend, Cory Vumbacco. He loved visiting Cape Cod and weekend visits with his wife to Mohegan Sun. He also loved to watch his grandchildren's games in football, cheerleading, basketball and baseball. Frank was a Marine Corp veteran and enjoyed boxing while in the service. Frank was a very special man and will be missed by so many.

Survivors in addition to his wife include his daughter, Lisa K. Vumbacco of Troy; his beloved grandchildren, Cory, Zachary and Jakob Vumbacco and Arianna Keller; his siblings, George (Kathleen) Vumbaco of Albany, Anne Vumbaco of East Greenbush, Rosemary Bolles of Watervliet, Anthony (Laurel) Vumbaco of Troy, Thomas (MaryAnne) Vumbaco of Troy and John (Brenda) Vumbaco of North Greenbush and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his oldest brother, Joseph Vumbaco.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7 PM.

Interment will be in Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery Schuylerville.
