Francis J. Balistreri

Troy - Francis J. Balistreri, 76, of Burdett Avenue died peacefully Friday, July 10, 2015, at Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family.  He was a gentle, loving, and kind person to all.    

Born in Geneva, NY, he was son of the late James V. and Lucille Pauline Carey Balistreri and beloved husband for 54 years of Eileen Barr Balistreri. He was raised in Bradford, PA and resided most of his life in Troy and Raymertown. He was a graduate of Bradford High School, Bradford, PA and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Music from Ithaca College in 1961 and his Master's Degree from The State University of New York at Albany. 

Fran was a music teacher for the Enlarged City School District of Troy for 40 years, retiring in 2001.   

He was a member of the Taconic-Raymentown Kiwanis Club, the Brunswick Fire Company #1 Support Group, the Netters Fund Board of Directors, a coach at Brunswick Little League and a communicant of St. George's Church in Raymertown and Our Lady of Victory Church in Troy.  Fran enjoyed fishing, bowling and his greatest love, other than his wife, were his grandchildren.
  
Survivors in addition to his wife include a son, Mark J. (Lisa) Balistreri, Brunswick; his grandchildren, Scott James Balistreri D'Agostino, Sofia, and Kelly D'Agostino, Madeline Eileen Balistreri, Daniel Rysedorph and Lyndsay Podworski and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his son, James Gerard Balistreri.

Relatives and friends may call at  Our Lady of Victory Church  55 North Lake Avenue Troy on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 from 10-12 Noon  with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Noon by Rev. Randall Patterson , Pastor.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Troy at a later date.
