Flora Cacciotti DeCurtis, 96

Brunswick- God gained an angel yesterday when Flora Cacciotti DeCurtis, 96, passed away January 13, 2005 peacefully at home with her daughter, Anna Bove; her son, John and Diane DeCurtis and sister, Nancy Miani and several grandchildren and family members at her bedside. The oldest of five children, Flora was born in Maenza, Italy to Silviano Cacciotti and Leontina (Bazzarri) Cacciotti, where she began her love of family, cooking and her strong faith which has sustained her throughout her life.

Flora's family life with her late husband, Frank, brought them to Troy, NY in the late 1920's where she worked with Cluett & Peabody making fine silk ties for the then current U.S. President(s) and later working with her husband at his DeCurtis Tailor business, They raised Anna and John surrounded by the love, music and great cooking with her family of siblings: Marco, Vincent, Nancy and Ione and their dear children.

The kitchen was always the center of her home where endless 25 pound bags of flour were not uncommon for baking Italian cookies and homemade macaroni. There was always food for everyone, a tradition carried on by her children. She was blessed with five grandchildren; Maria Bove, Deanna Bove Vessella, David Bove, Elizabeth DeCurtis and Jessica DeCurtis and four great-grandchildren; Jake and Joley Bove and Olivia and Mark Vessella.

Flora's full life and good health were due to an abundance of love and family, and her faith in God. A long-standing member of the Third Order of St. Francis, she honored the Lord in the way she lived and cared for others throughout her life. She was a communicant of St. Francis de Sales Church in Troy.

She is survived by her daughter, Anna M. Bove of Brunswick; her son, John DeCurtis (Diane) of Brunswick; a sister, Nancy Miani (Armando) of Latham; her grandchildren and great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Marco and Vincent Cacciotti and a sister, Ione NeJame
