Evelyn Howard Dane, 83

Albany Evelyn Howard Dane, 83, died Thursday, April 8,2004, peacefully in her sleep. Mrs Dane was born in Parkersburg, W. VA, the daughter of the late LaVerne and Pauline Howard.

She was a graduate of Hunter College in NYC.

Mrs. Dane was wife of the late Paul Dane; mother of Jonathan (Kathleen) Dane of Torrington, CT, Stephen (Cindy) Dane of Lititz PA, Judith Dane of NYC and the late Eric Dane; grandmother of Michael Dane, Michelle Dane, Andrew Hackman, Ryan Hackman, Kelly Sullivan and Channing (Schooner) Bates and sister of Adrian (Miller) Howard of Heber Springs, Arkansas, and the late Lee Howard.

Evelyn was a long time resident of Powell House in Old Chatham, where she was employed as a cook and co-director. She was an active member of the Old Chatham Monthly Meeting and long time member of the Friends Service Committee. Evelyn willingly gave her time and concern for others by service through the Columbia County Hospice. While living in Parkersburg, Evelyn dedicated her time by volunteering at the Blennerhassett Mansion and reading to elementary school children. She resided with her cousin, Margaret Ruth Miller, until Ms. Miller's death in 1994.

A memorial service to be announced at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions to Powell House, 524 Pitt Hall Rd., Old Chatham, N.Y. 12136 in memory of Evelyn. Arrangements being handled by Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Ave., Troy, N.Y.
