Esther L. Whipple Amadon, 90

Rensselaer- Esther L. Whipple Amadon, 90,of Van Rensselaer Heights Apartments, formerly of West Sand Lake, died Friday, September 1, 2006 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy.

Born in Roxbury, MA, she was the daughter of the late Fred A. Whipple and Lena (Sembach) Whipple and wife of the late George E. Amadon.

She had resided in West Sand Lake for many years and in Rensselaer for the past 25 years and was a graduate of Troy High School.

Mrs. Amadon was retired from Behr-Manning in Watervliet in 1980. Previously, she was a receptionist for the late Dr. John Reid in Averill Park.

She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in West Sand Lake for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Van Rensselaerites Club and Rensselaer and Sand Lake Seniors.

Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Maines (Donald) of Waterford, and Janet Smith (Frank) of Wilton; two grandchildren, Karen Groff (Jeffrey) of Ballston Spa and David Smith (Diane) of Schaghticoke, four great grandchildren, Emily Groff and Paul, Sean and Jennifer Smith and two nieces and two nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Albert and Martin Whipple.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 10:00 AM at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 4392 Route 150 West Sand Lake with Rev. Dr. Patricia A. Bush, Pastor of Salem United Methodist Church, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2-5 PM.

Interment Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy.
