Erye Corland (Hayner) Sneck

West Sand Lake- Erye Corland Hayner Sneck, 85, passed in the arms of her loving children, Monday, November 14, 2016.

Born in the Town of Brunswick and daughter of the late Jennie Akin Hayner and Allen Alonzo Hayner Sr. Erye shared life with twin sister Elsie Hayner Shudt of Brunswick, Lloyd A. Hayner (deceased), Allen A. Hayner Jr. of W. Monroe, Louisiana and David Z. Hayner of Sharon Springs, NY. 

Erye attended elementary school in Center Brunswick, Lansingburgh High School, class of ‘49 and was an active member of Russell Sage’s class of ‘53.

Married the love of her life, the late Henry James Sneck in 1952, she had three children: Mitchell D. Sneck, LTC, USAF (Ret.) of Henderson, Nevada. James D. Sneck of Bradford, NH and Alison H. Starkey of W. Sand Lake, NY. Her grandchildren: Matthew M. Sneck, SSGT, USA (deceased), Michelle Sneck-Crepinsek of Houston, TX and Harrison Sneck of Durham, NH.

Erye enriched the community as a member of the Troy Garden Club, the Junior League of Troy and the Rensselaer County Historical Society. She participated in several long-term medical studies and contributed to medical research through Rockefeller University, NYC. Erye has donated her body to the anatomical gift program at the Albany Medical College.  

An avid gardener and homemaker, she enjoyed tennis, gourmet dinner group, book club, rug hooking, and wine tasting with friends and her lifelong partner of 64 years, Henry J.

A skilled seamstress, she knitted for family and the men and women of the National Guard deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq. Erye, a voracious reader, kept her mind sharp with crossword puzzles, word puzzles and afternoon bridge. 

Erye traveled extensively throughout the United Kingdom, Europe and Russia.

A celebration of life will be held at Bryce Funeral Home, 276 Pawling Ave., Troy, NY on December 23, 2016  with visiting hours from ** 4 – 6:30 pm and a memorial service at 6:30 pm with Rev. Gusti Linnea Newquist , officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions made be made to a local library.
