Ellen Crotty Leadbetter, 84

Brunswick - Ellen Crotty Leadbetter, 84, of Country Way died Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Dobbs Ferry, NY, she was daughter of the late David A. Crotty and Mary Hauptman Crotty and wife for 58 years of the late Edwin J. Leadbetter. She was raised in Dobbs Ferry, NY, had resided in the Troy area for over 40 years and was a graduate of Dobbs Ferry High School.

Mrs. Leadbetter was a legal secretary for Pattison, Sampson, Ginsberg and Griffin Law Firm in Troy for 15 years retiring several years ago and prior to that worked as a secretary in the advertising department of WTEN in Albany for 10 years.

She was a longtime member of Memorial and later Hope United Methodist Church in Eagle Mills and the past several years at Center Brunswick United Methodist Church. She was a past Matron of the Eastern Star in Dobbs Ferry and a 20+ year active volunteer of the Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary. Ellen was a member of Troy Business and Professional Women, Rensselaer County and NYS Legal Secretary's Association, a former treasurer of the local AARP and, along with her husband, was a member of the Tamarac Twirlers square dance group.

Survivors include two sons, Mark J. (Sue) Leadbetter, Melrose and Bryan C. (Alana) Leadbetter, Rochester; two sisters Mary Ann Willetts, Eagle Mills and Virginia M. Crotty, Troy; a brother, Arthur F. Crotty, Waterford; four grandchildren, Dacia (Michael) Maynard, Daryl (William Hansbury) Leadbetter and Kristin and Michael Leadbetter and two great grandchildren, Nicholas and Joe Maynard. She was predeceased by a brother, David C. Crotty.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 10 AM at the Center Brunswick United Methodist Church Route 7 Center Brunswick with Rev. Arthur Hagy, Pastor, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Sunday from 2- 5 PM.

Interment will be in Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery Schuylerville.
