Port Orange, FL- Elizabeth G. McCabe peacefully went home Saturday, July 1, 2006 at Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, Port Orange, Florida. She was born November 5, 1928 in Troy, New York. Elizabeth graduated from Lansingburgh High School in 1946 and Rochester Institute of Technology in 1949. Mrs. McCabe was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Raymond John McCabe, who passed away February 27, 2006.

Betty retired as Vice President and Auditor from Troy Savings Bank in 1985 after 34 years of service. She was a Certified Internal Auditor, and a Life Member of the American Institute of Banking, Albany Chapter. She was recognized by Who's Who of American Women five consecutive years, as well as memberships in the National Association of Business Women, Bank Auditors Institute, the Institute of Internal Auditors, and Savings Bank Auditors and Controllers of New York State. She was also active in the Republican Committee of Rensselaer County, and served as an election judge.

Besides her husband, she was also predeceased by her parents William and Jean (Mackay) Gailey, her brother Alexander Gailey, and her grandparents Alexander and Jeanne Gailey who helped raise her after the death of her mother. She is also predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Loren E. McCabe, and Eugene K. and his wife Doris Y. McCabe.

Betty leaves behind her sister-in-law Shirley (Gailey) King and her husband Robert of Sebring, Florida; brother-in-law Campbell R. McCabe and his companion Barbara Fontana of Grand Island, NY; sister-in-law Belva Lee (McCabe) Hawks and her husband John of Powder Springs, GA; sister-in-law Nancy (Webster) McCabe of Hoosick Falls, NY; sixteen nieces and nephews, 24 grand-nieces and nephews, two great-grand nephews, and several cousins.

A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at Hospice of Volusia/Flagler at 3:00pm. Following cremation, internment will be at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery, Troy, NY.
