Edward Mondore, 86

Loudonville - Edward Mondore, 86, of Loudonville, beloved husband of 58 years of Joline Hartman Mondore passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Albany to the late Aaron and Ann Marie (Going) Mondore, he graduated from Albany High School and was drafted into the Army where he served as Company Clerk at Fort Lewis, Washington until receiving an honorable discharge in 1947. Using the GI Bill, he enrolled in Siena College, Loudonville and then graduated from Clark University (Worcester, MA) where he received a Bachelor in Business Administration.

He joined the accounting firm of Eugene J. Steiner located on State Street in Albany and subsequently received his CPA and became partner of the firm. The firm later became Mondore and Stufflebeam. Ed was a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Ed loved his Boston Red Sox team. All who knew him knew that he was 'the manager' of the Red Sox and had to be in 'the dugout' for each and every game. A brick with Ed's name resides within Fenway Park. As well, he followed the Siena Basketball team, following them from playing at Siena to the TU Center.

Ed is a member of the First Church in Albany (Reformed Church in America) where he was a member of the church choir and a church school teacher. He held the office of Deacon, Elder and Trustee, and was President of the Trustees for many years as well as Chair of the Endowment Fund of the Church. In addition, he was President of the Albany Classis of the Reformed Church in America and a member of the Board of the Reformed Church in America Foundation. Locally, he was a member of the Finance Committee of the Capital Area Council of Churches. The church had an important impact on Ed as a young boy and he became a leader in the Church that he loved. His vision, passion, love of God is cherished by the congregation and all who knew him.

Ed loved music and dancing. He went to many musicals with his wife at Mac-Haydn Theatre in Chatham and sang all the way to and from the shows. He loved to dance and sing throughout life. Ed was known for getting his 'prescription' of dark chocolate from Krause's in Colonie where they knew him enough that when they saw him coming they knew to get the Mondore special ready. He also enjoyed many wonderful times at Hedges Lake commanding the ComMondore and entertaining family and friends.

Ed is the beloved husband of Joline; father of E. Andrew (Becky); and grandfather of Zaquan West all of Loudonville. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, Aaron and sister, Ann. He was loved by all who knew him.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Atria Shaker and to the staff in the Emergency Department and C2 at Albany Medical Center for their loving and tender care of Ed and of the whole family. In addition, the family would like to thank Dr. Paul Sorum, Ed's physician for many years and Dr. Earl Zimmerman, Alice Brown and Nancy Cummings for their care.

A celebration of Ed's life will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 3:30 pm at First Church in Albany (Reformed), 110 N. Pearl Street Albany. Interment with military honors will be held immediately after the service outside in Clee Park. A light reception in the fellowship hall will follow.
