Edward J. Brown, Sr., 80

Troy - Edward J. Brown, Sr., 80, of Woods Path died Sunday, July 31, 2011, at Samaritan Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Schaghticoke, he was son of the late Arthur J. Brown and Mary Kendall Brown and husband for 58 years of Betty Kay Halligan Brown. He had resided in North Greenbush most of his life and retired to Babcock Lake in Grafton. Ed was a graduate of Sacred Heart School, attended LaSalle Institue and graduated from Catholic Central High School class of 1949. He continued his education as one of the only non-veteran electronics students in Veteran's Vocational School in Troy, now HVCC and after his retirement, graduated from Russell Sage College to earn his teaching certification.

Ed was a television repairman for 32 years owning and operating , T.V. Clinic. After he retired, he work for 5 years with Greene Correctional Facility in Coxsackie, teaching inmates electronics.

He was a member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Wynantskill and a member of Troy Lodge of Elks and the Ward Pond Club. Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and anything to do with the outdoors. He was an airplane pilot, earning his Commercial Pilots license, Instrument rating and multi-engine rating.

Survivors in addition to his wife include two daughters, Bonnie L. Brown, CA and Jean A. (James) Dugan, East Greenbush and a son, Edward J. 'Rusty' (Debi) Brown, Jr., CA; his loving grandchildren, Edward J. III and Eric Brown and Tara (Andy) Stocks and their mother Mary Stevens Brown all of CA and Amy Dugan of Albany, Shannon Dugan of CA and Michelle Dugan of East Greenbush and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Anne Marie Brown and Patricia Manoogian.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Wednesday from 4-7 PM.

Funeral service will be held Thursday at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Victory Church Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Randall Patterson, Pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Edward J. Brown to the Spina Bifida Association 4590 MacArthur Boulevard, NW Suite 250 Washington , DC 20007.
