Edmund C. Miller Sr., 58

West Sand Lake - Edmund C. Miller Sr., 58, of Route 43 died Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a brief illness and one week after his father died.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late Arthur S. Miller and Pauline Ryemiller Miller and husband of Yvonne Sousa Miller. He had resided in West Sand Lake all his life and was a graduate of Averill Park High School.

Ed was a deputy for the Rensselaer County Sheriff's Department for 25 years retiring 3 years ago. For several years he was a K-9 Arson Investigator. Many years ago he also worked as a police officer for the Town of Sand Lake Police and worked for Hart's Fuel Service delivering oil and as a technician and the Rensselaer County Highway Department.

He was a member of the Sand Lake Ambulance, the West Sand Lake Fire Company, the Rensselaer County Law Enforcement Association and was a team member in the Car Seat Safety Program. He enjoyed golfing and traveling, having visited 49 states.

Survivors in addition to his wife include three daughters, Jessica A. (Sean) Morgan, Hudson, NH, Stephanie A. (Wade) Catlin, Prosper, TX and Alicia M. (Bryan) Charles, West Sand Lake; a son, Edmund C. (Valene) Miller Jr., Poestenkill; a sister, Sharon (Joseph) Lamando, Delaware; his grandchildren, Nya Morgan, Jenna and Ethan Miller, Logan and Kerissa Catlin, Hunter Peterson and Maverick Charles. He was predeceased by his infant sons, Charles and William Miller and a sister, Jeanette Miller.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 4392 Route 150 West Sand Lake.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-7 PM.

Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery West Sand Lake.
