Edith V. Hayner Armstrong, 98

North Greenbush - Edith V. Hayner Armstrong, 98, of West Sand Lake Road, died April 24, 2008 at her residence.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was daughter of the late Robert Hayner and Clara (James) Hayner and wife of the late William A. Armstrong.

She was employed by the New York State Department of Corrections as a Deputy Director for the Fingerprint Division retiring after 35 years of service.

She was involved her whole life in church work at the Pawling Avenue Methodist Church in Troy and was a volunteer for Samaritan Hospital for 20 years.

Survivors include her son, Douglas W. (Lillian) Armstrong of Fairfax Station, VA; her grandchildren, Douglas and Laurie Armstrong and Erika (Cameron) Anderson; her great grandchildren, Cameron Jr., Catherine and Elizabeth; a sister, Ruth Hayford and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Hayner.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Pawling Avenue United Methodist Church 520 Pawling Avenue Troy with Rev. Karyl Hopp, Pastor, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the CHURCH on Wednesday from 10-11 AM prior to the service. Interment will be at Memory's Garden Colonie.

Contributions may be made in memory of Edith V. Armstrong to the American Heart Association 440 New Karner Road Albany, NY 12205.
