Louise Blakley Rea, 91

Rexford - Louise Blakley Rea, 91, of Rexford, NY and New Smyrna Beach, Florida passed into eternal rest, May 30, 2008.

Louise was born in Lynchburg, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Charles and Willie Blakley.

Louise will always be remembered for her hospitality, warmth and generosity. She was loved by all.

Her most proud achievement were her two children---Eileen & Norman whom she adored. She was a devoted and loving wife for 55 years to the late Ted Rea, formerly Vice-President of the Marshall Ray Corporation in Troy. Louise raised her family in Menands.

She loved working with her daughter for over ten years in Eileen's Bridals and Sew 'n Sew.

Louise's love of people and vibrant spirit became the cornerstone of the business.

Louise was an Honored member of the New York State Board of Managers of American Baptist Women. During her 12 years of service, she served as state program chairman and vice-president of leadership and development. She was prominent throughout the state as toastmaster and speaker.

Louise was a member of the First Baptist Church in Troy, New York where she formerly served as trustee. In 2000, Louise established the Louise B. Rea Trust in support of camp scholarships for American Baptist Women. Over 108 grants have been awarded to young women due to her generosity. She was active in many other philanthropic activities which she preferred to keep anonymous.

The family is especially grateful to her caretaker "angels" Gwen, Darnelle, Grace and Bonnie who helped maintain her quality of life.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church 82 Third Street Troy with Rev. Douglas Thomson, Pastor, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc., 276 Pawling Avenue, Troy, on Monday from 4-8 PM. Interment will be in Memory's Garden Colonie.

Contributions can be made in Louise's memory to American Baptist Churches of New York State 5865 East Seneca Turnpike Jamesville, New York 13078.
