Doris M. Gibson Meyer, 89

Troy - Doris M. Gibson Meyer, 89, of Colleen Road died suddenly Friday, October 21, 2011, at Samaritan Hospital.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Warren E. Gibson and Mary Roeck Gibson and wife of the late Ernest H. Meyer Jr. She had resided in Troy all her life and was a graduate of Troy High School class of 1941 and Troy Business College.

Mrs. Meyer worked several years as a legal secretary in Troy, was employed in the Rensselaer County Clerk's office and retired to become a full time homemaker.

She was a lifelong member of the Mt. Ida Community Baptist Church in Troy and a member of the Church Guild and Treasurer for the Adult Education Department. Doris was an avid baseball fan and a loyal NY Mets fan.

Survivors include two sons, Robert W. Meyer and Kevin Meyer both of Troy; a daughter, Deborah J. (Francis T.) McKeever, East Nassau and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Charles E. Gibson and a sister, Ruth Spector.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Monday from 4-7 PM.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Douglas Thomson , Pastor of Mt. Ida Community Baptist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery Troy.
