December 29, 2010

Donald Bruce Haid, 66

Troy - Donald Bruce Haid, 66, of Troy went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 29, 2010. He was Born in Providence, Rhode Island and was educated in the Connecticut area. He was the son of Vivian Pettine Haid of East Greenbush and the late Richard Carle and brother of the late Alan D. Haid.

Donald was retired from his small Home Repair business. He was innovated and handy with his hands. He had a great sense of humor and was very philosophical in thought, yet practical in his life style.

Donald was a true patriot and was honored in knowing that he was a direct descendant of several patriots who fought in the American Revolution, namely, Maj. Samuel Phillips, Job Sweet (from the bone-setter Sweets), and Nicholas and Judge Ezekiel Gardiner all from Rhode Island. He was a member of the Saratoga Battle Chapter NSSAR. He was also a far removed indirect descendent of Gilbert Stewart, the portrait painter.

He was also a member of the National Rifle Association.

His hobbies included: reading, painting, music and quiet time in the yard.

He was a man of great passion and enjoyed wearing his many hats.

Don was the devoted husband and friend of Carol Gundersen Haid. He leaves behind a brother William (Joan) Haid of Connecticut, a sister- in- law Nancy Haid of Florida and a nephew, Brian Haid and niece, Barbara Jean Haid of Connecticut. There are numerous other family members in Rhode Island as well.

Today Donald is gone. A true friend always, and a servant to those in need.

"At this my death, I have not died, I have merely left to go home, so, please do not cry!"
