Donald G. Dunson, 85

Troy - Donald G. Dunson, 85, of Taylor Court died Friday, April 22, 2011, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late George Dunson and Catherine LaBrie Dunson and husband for 60 years of Victoria C. Mamone Dunson. He had resided in Troy all his life and attended St. Francis de Sales School and Catholic Central High School.

Mr. Dunson was a painter for the Enlarged City School District of Troy for 20 years retiring in 2006 at the age of 80. Previously, he was a member of the Troy Fire Department, stationed in Central Station for 18 years retiring in 1978.

He was a member of the Troy Retired Firefighters Association, was in the Troy Emerald Club Baseball Hall of Fame and was an armed guard in the US Navy during World War II.

Survivors in addition to his wife include three sons, Gerald (Victoria) Dunson, North Greenbush, Brian (Susan) Dunson, Troy and Stephen Dunson, Troy; three grandchildren, Brian, Matthew and Brianna Dunson all of Troy; two sisters, Beverly Smith and Barbara Salvaggio both of Troy and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, William Dunson.

Funeral service private at the convenience of the family.
