Dolores M. Ritrovato Madsen, 61

Troy Dolores M. Ritrovato Madsen, 61, of Troy, passed suddenly Friday at St. Mary's Hospital while surrounded by her loving family.

Born and raised in Troy, she was daughter of Dorothy Murray Ritrovato of Troy and the late Salvatore N. Ritrovato and wife of her cherished husband of 41 years Otto R. 'Bud' Madsen Jr. She attended St. Mary's School and Troy High School.

Dolores' passion in life included her grandchildren, bingo and late night rounds of Yatzee with her family and friends, and afternoon rides to Vermont with her husband. She was a remarkable and caring woman who often was said to wear her heart on her sleeve and offer it to anyone who needed it for whatever reason. She worked for many years at the former Doughney's supermarket in Troy and held several jobs over the years retiring in 1992 from the RPI cafeteria.

She was a communicant of St. Francis de Sales Church in Troy.

Survivors in addition to her husband include her children, Otto R. (Joan) Madsen III of Cohoes, Michael J. Madsen of Troy, Martha J. (Eric) Remington of Grafton, Robert A. (Tammy) Madsen of St. Johnsville, Ellen M. (Scott) Whelan Chandler of Troy and Charlotte (Greg) Rizzo-Kipp of Troy; two brothers, Salvatore 'Nick' Ritrovato and Anthony L. (Patricia) Ritrovato of Troy; three sisters, Marjorie J. Ritrovato and Beverly M. Ritrovato of Troy and Sally J. (Arthur) Horton of Averill Park; her grandchildren Joshua R. Madsen, Thomas (Emily) Barrera LT. USAF, Tammy (Joseph) Sbardella, Martha 'Missy' Remington, Deanna Remington, Eric Remington, John Levine PFC US Army, Peter M. and Nicole Whelan, Alyzia, Casey-Lynn and Robert 'Bobby' Madsen, Dominick and Salvatore Rizzo, Lisa and Ian Kipp and Gregory Kipp Jr.; her great grandchildren Matthew and Kendal-Lynn Barrera and Angelo Sbardella; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 9:00am from the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy and at 9:30am from St. Francis de Sales Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 4-8pm. Interment Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Madsen to the American Heart Association 440 New Karner Road Albany, NY 12205.
