David A. Canfield Sr., 55

West Sand Lake David A. Canfield Sr., 55, of Route 150, died suddenly Wednesday at his residence.

Born in Troy, he was son of Josephine Fisher Canfield of Troy and the late James F. Canfield and devoted husband for over 36 years of Karen L. Poirier Canfield. He was raised on the East Side of Troy and resided the past 30 years in West Sand Lake and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School class of 1965 and a Graduate Machinist from the Apprentice Program at the Watervliet Arsenal.

Mr. Canfield retired in 2000 as a procurement specialist from the Watervliet Arsenal after 33 years of service.

He was a member of the Federal Managers Association and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Troy. Several years ago, he was active in the Albia Bowling League and most recently the Mars Golf League.

Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include two sons, David A. Canfield Jr. (Tara) of Boca Raton, FL and Anthony D. Canfield of West Sand Lake and his dear friend Bridget Sulham ; a daughter, Darcy L. Pitcheralle (Christian) of East Greenbush; two brothers James F. Canfield (Patricia) of Troy and Robert J. Canfield (Carole) of Troy and two granddaughters of 'Poppy', Marin Canfield and Alyssa Pitcheralle. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 9:00am from the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 4392 Route 150 West Sand Lake and at 9:30am from Sacred Heart Church in Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 4-8PM. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy.
