Cynthia Ruth Sturges Crossen

Wynantskill - Cynthia Ruth Sturges Crossen , 92, of Cardinal Court died Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at her residence after a brief illness.
Born in , Troy , she was daughter of the late Thomas Sturges and Ruth Dater Sturges and wife of the late James T. Crossen . She had resided in Lansingburgh most of her life and the past 10 years in Wynantskill and attended Lansingburgh High School class of 1935 and Albany Business College.
Mrs. Crossen was secretary for the Dean of Students at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for 20 years retiring in 1980. Prior to that she worked at Cluett, Peabody & Company and Rototiller.
She was a long time active member of the former St. John's Lutheran Church in Troy now Faith Lutheran Church in Speigletown holding numerous board positions. She was also a member of the Lansingburgh PTA where she held several positions, AARP where she was Secretary and served on the board and volunteered with Catholic Charities. She loved spending as much time as possible on Cape Cod and visiting NYC.
Cynthia had a love for cats and also for oil painting, What she loved the most was the time she spent with family and friends. This time was very special to her.
Survivors include two daughters, Katherine R. (late Frank) Vumbacco of Troy and Mary (Joseph) Maselli of Wynantskill; a son, Thomas (Karen Lay) Crossen of Cropseyville; a sister-in-law , Edna R. Sturges of Troy; her grandchildren, Lisa Vumbacco, Melissa (Kyle) Juliano and Andrew and Kayla Crossen; great grandchildren, Cory, Zachary and Jakob Vumbacco and Arianna Keller and a nephew, Robert B. Sturges. She was predeceased by a grandson, Michael J. Maselli and a brother, Robert W. Sturges.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 10:00 AM at Faith Lutheran Church 50 Leversee Road Troy with Rev. Stephen Cordes, Pastor.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Sunday, from 4-7 PM.
Interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy.
The family wishes to thank the Community Hospice of Rensselaer County for their care.
